- Eva Scherger was born in the 1920s and grew up in Strathcona. Here, she recalls her days at Strathcona School and some of the school's history. Note: Ms. Scherger's recollection that Strathcona School was briefly used for a hospital for Japanese families during the flu epidemic during WWI is accurate; King Edward Secondary was used as a temporary hospital for the rest of the populace during this time.
