- During the summers, Ms. Scherger and her friends and siblings spent the greater part of their time at MacLean Park. Two favourite pastimes were baseball (noted opponents were Helen and Marge Callahan, who went on to the U.S. women's professional league during wartime and inspire the movie A League of Their Own) and end-of-summer performances given at Brockton Point by kids from all around Vancouver.
